Same-day where we can, with the method chosen to suit your street rather than to suit the biggest machine in the yard.

Clearing a drain is not one technique. It is a choice between several, and the choice depends as much on where the vehicle can sit as on what is in the pipe.
A jetting unit is mounted on a vehicle. On a narrow one-way street with no off-street parking it may not be able to stop within reach of the work.
That is a solvable problem: longer hose runs, smaller plant, or working from a different access point altogether. What it is not is a surprise to spring on somebody once a van is already double-parked outside their house.
So we ask about the street when you ring, choose the method that genuinely suits it, and put the access allowance in the quote where you can see it.

Then it is structural rather than something flushed. Footage will normally say exactly what, and save you paying to clear it twice more.
The peninsula was built out long before anybody considered where a vehicle would stop, so streets are narrow and many are one-way.
Modern drain equipment is vehicle-mounted, which makes where the van sits a genuine part of the job.
There is no through traffic and no alternative route, so a blocked street is genuinely blocked.
Timing a job for when the street is workable is sometimes the difference between doing it today and not.
Most drainage here has been renewed in sections over a century and a half rather than all at once.
The joins between eras are where things tend to fail, and they rarely appear on any plan.
An open joint, a root entry, a lost section of fall, or a junction some previous owner added.
Clearing treats the symptom. Footage tells you whether there is a cause worth fixing.
Balmain Colliery ran from 1897 to 1931 and its shafts reached about 800 metres, the deepest in Australia.
It is a genuinely interesting piece of the suburb's past. It does not explain a blocked drain, and we will not pretend it does.
Fixed price agreed before anyone starts, with the access allowance shown separately so you can see exactly what it is. These are indicative 2026 ranges.
Through an existing access point, cleared and flow tested before we leave.
Footage handed over, with what we find marked and located.
Where the street allows the unit close enough, or with an extended run where it does not.
Marked at the surface so any repair is targeted rather than exploratory.
So you can see what the street is costing rather than wondering.

Where a van can stop, whether it is one-way, and what time of day it is workable. That shapes the method and the price.

Through the existing access point, then run properly to confirm it is genuinely clear rather than simply moving.

On pipework that has been added to for a century and a half, footage on the first repeat is worth more than on the third.

The footage plus an honest view on whether clearing is a fix or a postponement.
We will get it running today. Tell us where to stop when you ring and it will be sooner.

Because the equipment has to reach the work. A jetting unit is vehicle-mounted, and on a narrow one-way street with no off-street parking it may not be able to sit where the hose can reach. That does not mean the job cannot be done, it means the method and sometimes the plant have to suit the street, and that belongs in the quote rather than being discovered on arrival.
Nearly always, yes. Longer hose runs, smaller machines and working from a different access point all solve it. What we will not do is turn up, find the street impossible and then ask you for more money. We settle that on the phone.
Something structural at that point rather than anything anybody flushed. An open joint, a root entry, a section that has lost its fall, or a junction added by a previous owner. A camera separates them in about twenty minutes, and on nineteenth-century pipework that has been added to repeatedly it is worth doing on the first repeat rather than the third.
Frequently. This is nineteenth-century housing, and while most drainage has been renewed in sections over the years, the runs are often a patchwork of eras joined together. The joins between those eras are where things tend to go wrong.
No, and we would rather say so plainly. Balmain Colliery is genuinely remarkable history, the deepest coal mine ever sunk in Australia, sealed in the 1950s. It is not an explanation for a blocked drain, and anybody offering it as one is guessing.
Rarely, and on old pipe they do harm. They sit on the blockage rather than passing through, they generate heat, and in aged pipework they attack the line as readily as the obstruction. Tell us if one has already gone down, before we open anything.
A standard clear through an existing access point is $150 to $400, with the access allowance stated separately so you can see it. A camera inspection is $250 to $450 with footage handed over. Jetting is $400 to $700. Locating and marking a defect is $250 to $500.
Tell us what is blocked, whether it has happened before, and where a van can realistically stop. On this peninsula that last one is not a small detail.
Fixed price agreed first with the access shown separately, footage on any repeat, and an honest answer about whether clearing will hold.
